Came in for lunch before shopping for some ingredients at Hmart. I've been to their other locations and this one is consistent with their other ones. I usually order the jjajang as it is already a moderate size enough for 2 people to share. Server was friendly and we were able to find an empty table to sit at as we wait for our food to be ready

Paik's Noodle, owned by Chef Jong Won Paik (one of the judges from Culinary Class Wars), provides korean-chinese comfort food in the H-Mart located in North Irvine. And does it deliver!! Paik's is known for its Jajangmyeon (fermented black bean noodle stir-fry) and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Their noodles in all of their dishes are perfectly chewy, and satisfying for hearty noodle lovers. If you're new to these dishes, the noodles are like a mix between an udon and ramen noodle, typically using thick, wheat flour. The Jajangmyeon hits that spot when you want a comforting meal with an umami punch. This dish has a perfect balance of sweet and savory (more on the savory side), with flavors oozing from caramelized onions, the salty, smoky, and decadent fermented black bean, and a generous portion of elongated ground pork adding a nice meaty touch. For meat lovers, you can order this with extra meat, and for vegetarians, they offer the dish without meat at all. They even have a seafood version of this dish! I don't know why this place was rated terribly. I thought the Jjajangmyeon was delicious. Although it did suck because this restaurant and the rest of the food court do not give free water which is dumb in my opinion. Other than that I had no problems at all. Just make sure you bring your own water bottle.

I prefer jjajangmyeon more than jjamppong, but the weather was cloudy and it rainy, so I was craving jjamppong with spicy soup, so I came to eat jjamppong at Paik's Noodle (Hong Kong Banjum). I enjoyed the jjamppong while sweating over the moderately spicy jjamppong soup, chewy noodles, and the spicy taste. The noodles were not mushy and soggy until I finished eating them, so I enjoyed it so much. 😋

The Jjamppong has a lot of veggies and sea food. It was way better than Paik's in Korea. The place was very clean, and the cashier was kind. Good location.
